+Siren of the Sea+ by Tankero +Siren of the Sea+ by Tankero
Did this old piece [link] again. :D

Added more details, changed others and background.
Painting is a little bigger than my scanner so it cropped this. :/

Watercolours and markers.

Buaha, little pink egg fetuses! XD I had this phase in 2006 where I LOVED drawing fetuses for some reason.

The background on this looks fantastic. I think it adds a lot to the narrative of this illustration to place the mermaid in the ocean...and the sihlouettes of those coral are so expressive :la:

What sort of markers do you use? Normally, I'd be worried about the watercolor causing the marker ink to run...but are you using a kind that doesnt run? OR perhaps layering the markers on after you're done painting?

Fetuses are so nice to draw!<3

I use markers mainly after I have done most of the picture. I use pro and copic markers to add more vibrant shades on details. Then I use some cheaper markers to "boost" lines. Usually when I use those cheaper markers, I draw the desired line and then use some water to blend it in nicely. :>

Oooo, technique @,@

And Copic markers! I was never very good coloring with markers, but the Copics are pretty cool because of the brush-pen side. You can sort of "paint" with them, like using a paint brush. :D

Wow! I can't believe that piece could get any better - but it did! This is stunning! I really love all the details and the colours are so beautiful! I also really love how you've drawn her tail, and the background fits the image perfectly~ The almost 'frayed' edge to the fins adds such a brilliant effect too and those eyes are just so pretty!~!

Thank you so much! I had some problems painting those white details since my real white ink is all dried up. Gotta buy new one quickly! :'D
